My lathe starts to chatter just by the look of an 1mm parting insert...

I thought there's 2 kind of machinists, those who think vernier calipers are pretty much all you'll need and those who think calipers are waste of money because you need set of micrometers anyway. I see player 3 has entered the game.

I'm not a machinist, I'll admit that, but why did you need to remove that much material just to cut off a piece of stock?

а нахрена переводить на стружку 10мм? ну возьми отрезной резец поуже. экономика должна быть экономной

That’s impressive parting!
Sometimes, though… “Parting can be such sweet sorrow”!😮

You know i never get tired of watching these, the best ones are the more complex machining

My favorite part of this video is how he didn’t get a 10 foot pipe to tighten the screw. If I had a dollar for every time I had to get a stripped screw out…

I feel like machine weight should also be included in the parameters of demo cuts 😂

We have two of these (left and right hand) with 10mm inserts. We use them for deep grooving in stainless forgings.

Nice work! I had the privilege of working for GE developing 40 Watt Plasma Rifles back in the 80’s. We reached out to Mitsubishi Electric to develop some of the early PCBN machining tools. This also solved the ionic transfer problems and short tool life using HPP carbides in the beginning. The budget was not a factor back then so these inventions could happen.

The video looped like 5 times, before I realized I was watching a repeat of the same clip. And by the 4th time, I'm like, "Why does have to change the tool each time?"

Выгоднее ленточной пилой отрезать и потом выровнять уже на токарке. А так, сколько металла просто в расход

Your scrap is a bit high! You cut with a 10mm blade to get a 10mm piece😅

The biggest grooving tool that I have is 8mm, but I would love to try that one.

Absolutely amazing.. I'd imagine that insert has to have very good Thermal Conductivity to carry insane amounts of heat away from cutting edge

Measure it with a mic, mark it with chalk, cut it with an axe!
