Hey everyone, and welcome back to another video on the channel. In today's video, we will be restoring the Automatic Updates feature, in Windows XP.

Please Note that I am NOT responsible for anything that goes wrong to your PC, and please proceed at your own risk. Since damages to your pc are possible, I would recommend backing up all your files and make a system restore point. You could even do this on a virtual machine or on an older pc first. So incase anything goes wrong, it won't affect your pc.

Note: Check What Your System Architecture So You Will Know If You Need To Download The 32-Bit/x86 or the 64-Bit/x64 versions of the required files.

Instructions:

Works even on 64 bit edition, thank you so much. I was desperate between Windows Update Restored, Legacy Update and WSUSO to get updates, but now thanks to you I can get updates, again, thank you so much, you've saved my VM.

Windows XP is still useful for one thing....Old disk games. Windows XP is the latest Windows OS that still has the SECDRV.SYS file and service intact that allows SafeDisk DRM to work.
Having a backup of Windows XP still allows easy installation for those game who want a hassle free way to do as it is a pain to restore it on modern systems.
With your video, now we can have confidence our Windows XP is up-to-date. Thank you very much.

Great job man some of the links are not working, but I was able to find the files elsewhere.

I have a question though is is this going to work for drivers because I have a load of drivers on CDs that really would take me forever to try to fish through .

It would be so much easier if I could update the drivers from windows update.

I’m guessing I leave the batch file running while I look for an update on the driver?

A few hours later and I'm still banging my head. When I run wsus on my newly installed x64 I get an error box "msvcr110.dll not found". I checked the file is in system32, copied it into syswow64 and installed the 32 bit vc++ runtime. Still the same. It is correctly referenced in the registry, as far as I can tell.

There is no benefit updating xp through online sites. Better keep the system standalone and just slipstream unofficial SP4 and posready updates till 2019. Or through AIO post sp3 update pack till 2021. No more updates would be required to be installed into your system. Also slipstreaming creates cleaner windows xp install because old files are replaced by new ones and entries are updated in registry whereas installing updates over live system backs up old files and replaces with new files in their place. This wastes nearly 1.5-2 GB space in the hard drive and makes the system slower.
