(1) "That's a good question! I'll find out." If you want to sound professional when someone's asking you a question that you don't the answer to, use this phrase instead of "I don't know."

(2) "I have the exact same question." If you want to continue a friendly conversation, you can use this alternative.

(3) "I have no idea / I have no clue." You can use both “I have no clue” and “I have no idea” to express that you have no information/knowledge about something. They mean the same thing.

(5) "Dunno." This word is used informally and in spoken language, especially by teenagers.

(6) "Why don't we ask [name]?" What should you do if you're truly not the best person to be answering this question? Admit that it's not quite in your wheelhouse, but that you can undoubtedly find the person that's best for the job.

(7) "Your guess is as good as mine." This phrase can be used when you know that the person asking you a question also has no idea about what the answer could be.

(8) "How should I know?" This phrase is informal and you can use it when you do not know something and you feel annoyed that someone is asking you about it.

(9) "As far as I know / As far as I'm concerned." Use one of these phrases when you have the information but not 100% sure it is correct.

You can also say "I wish I knew" - basically means "I don't know", and if you plan to find out an answer, then say "Let me get back to you on this", but if you think you knew something before, but can't remember it now, then use "Can't remember off the top of my head"
