But then during the japanese occupation era a lot of korean independence fighters and immigrants migrated to the manchurian regions that were specifically part of the soviet union to escape japanese break downs and to continue to fight against japan. However stalin saw koreans as possible threats as some korean independence fighters were very anti communists and also he thought that since korea is a part of japan, koreans were just potential spies. So he forced the ethnic korean population to migrate to central asia which explains why central asia has so many koreans and even the cuisines there interestingly enough have some korean origin such as carrot kimchi.
