fun facts:

musical: after helpless is used countless times in say no to this, it is never used again. instead of eliza saying “ur sentences left me helpless” she replaces “helpless” with “defenseless”

IRL:

-after the reynolds pamphlet, maria reynolds got a divorce from james led by ya fav, aaron burr. she also pulled a veronica sawyer by moving to england with her NEW husband, jacob clingman, & changing her name to maria clement. she also got custody of her daughter, susan reynolds. she was doing all this for her daughter. if she didn’t engage in the affair, she would lose custody of her child.

- this is like the og monica lewinsky type stuff. the beautiful downfall of ham was so ghetto.

- eliza was 🤰 w her 6th child during the affair

- we don’t know _why_ eliza burned her letters, that’s why she says “they don’t get to know what i said. the world has to right to my heart/our bed. let future historians wonder how eliza reacted” she was a very private and stoic person. but we can highly infer due to the affair and that he exposed their private letters to the public.

- maria was too poor to get her portrait done, so there are no actual photos of her. the portraits you’re looking at is maria fitzherbert. reynolds was a blondie irl tho.

reynolds’ ending was pretty happy actually. she got custody of susan and lived a pretty simple life w clingman. susan however, was just like maria. she also grew up as a pros and got married 3 times, but unfortunately, never happily.

What I think is messed up is that Hamilton is like “no one needs to know” but he wrote it all down and posted it everywhere he was not even accused of it he just did to do it
