This performance is possibly...quite possibly...at least belongs on a very short list of the MOST soulfoul, passionate, live, performances that Prince has EVER given. Purple Rain being at the top--I have been a fan since Prince's early days and I have seen him in many ways, via various media, and live and upfront---this performance in my host humble opinions, is one for the ages.

You could tell he fucking knew he wrote a near perfect song. The horns, the melody, the arrangement. Im not even stoned and this is the best thing I might ever hear. Am 20 years old, and normally into the smiths, blur, the cure, etc. But, the idea that the alternative community could ever shit on Prince is insane. I know most don't. But, some do. Which is why I didn't listen in my teens. Fuck is this how religious people feel in church?
