If Switch 2 has strong first and third party releases early on and is backwards compatible, it's a guaranteed success.

the launch game to me needs to be 100% Switch 2 exclusive and not on Switch 1 you need to give people a reason to buy the new hardware

The first two years of (almost) every Nintendo system is pretty lit. Wii had Twilight Princess, Fire Emblem, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy... Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and Animal Crossing. 3DS got OoT, Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus...Fire Emblem Awakenings, New Super Mario 2, Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 2. Even WiiU recovered after a poor first year with Mario 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta, and Smash Bros. Nintendo's going into next gen with essentially every major team due for a game.

I get the funny feeling the Switch 2 is going to be fully backwards compatible just with upres and higher framerates. I think that the whole online virtual console will be fully cross compatible between Switch 1 and Switch 2 and also we will prob get a whole heap of new virtual console games chucked on there the day the Switch 2 releases. More SNES games, more advance games, more N64 games. So basically I think the Switch 2 is going to have a full library on day 1. I think a lot of the less advanced games that release going forward will still be released on Switch 1 as well, but the more advanced games will be Switch 2 exclusive.

I asked Nintendo what their thoughts on the Playstation & Xbox were. They responded “Playwho? Xwhat?” so I don’t think those lesser consoles are on Nintendo’s radar imo D:

Why would an early Switch 2 announcement affect 2024 holiday sales, you ask? Two reasons. 1) They're still trying to sell Switch 1 hardware, not just software; and 2) because the Switch 2 will likely be announced alongside an impressive line-up of launch games. The majority of customers probably wouldn't care, but some fraction of them might decide to hold off and save their money. It wouldn't expect it to crater their sales, but I would expect them to lose some percentage, and they obviously don't want that. So I think an early 2025 announcement seems more likely.

The recent 1st party games on the Switch aren't from their bigger developers, who are no doubt making something for Switch 2.
Microsoft & Sony didn't have their developers lined up to keep the momentum going for this current gen, which honestly reminds me of the WiiU & how Nintendo said the jump to HD was more difficult than they expected, resulting in many droughts during its lifespan.

It seems crazy, but I think Nintendo has come full circle. In the past, Nintendo felt the only way they could be competitive in the industry was through being different from Sony and Microsoft. Now, it appears that all Nintendo needs to do with the Switch 2 is create a console of near equal power as the PS5 and the Series X--except Nintendo's console will have games.

Granted, Nintendo probably never needed to embrace gimmicks. If they had just embraced discs with the N64 and DVDs with the Gamecube, I really don't think they would have ever lost their footing at the top of the market, but Nintendo will always be Nintendo.

I'm not worried about the games lineup.
I just really hope it launches with a great UI, good interaction features with friends, a snappy eShop, and a fast cloud transfer system.

The PS5/Xbox Series gen started during a pandemic and semiconductor shortage, the Switch 2 will not have that issue.

Good video, but one thing bothered me, lol. The Switch is what started the generation that now also has PS5/XB Series. I think it's gen 10? The "Switch 2" will be starting the 11th gen in that case, and be part of the PS6/(insert weird XBox name). Nintendo's off the cycle with everyone else a little bit to where they get a head start, essentially; and I think it got that way because they desperately needed to get away from the Wii U (though I loved it so).

I think the main problem with the Ps5 and Series X is the lack of exclusives. Almost every game coming out is coming out on last gen, PC, or the other next gen console. The consoles are selling well sure, but so many people are upset at the lack of exclusives, so they’re loosing consumer trust. The switch has been an entire generation of Nintendo gaining back trust by releasing good software and digging into almost every IP they own to avoid the software droughts the other companies are going through, so Nintendo’s next generation is looking bright. Also I do think GTA VI could come to switch, albeit heavily downgraded, Rockstar can see the cash on the table

All depends on how powerful the switch 2 is going to be to determine if GTA6 is coming to the switch 2 or not. I don't see GTA6 coming to the switch 2 if the switch 2 is as powerful as a standard ps4 console or a ps4 pro console.
