How did the crop come along? I'm using old silage bales- grass thats cut in our spring- wilted and then wrapped in plastic where it ensiles- like a pickling process- the cows love it but we cannot feed the left over bales which have started to rot to the cows, it causes miscarriage. The ensiling heat kills the seeds- even dock. here in Taranaki New Zealand under the volcano- rich soil but weeds a real problem in bare soil gardening. This method really suppresses weeds and can be used to convert rough grass lawn into garden with no digging- Ala Ruth Stout technique. Last year's crop was great.
