Personally yes I would never pick any "supplementary" stories from the product backlog to the sprint backlog for two reasons. One, it carries the risk of endangering quality of this item because it will be developed somewhat in hurry. Two, it hampers the integrity of the sprint backlog. I look at the sprint backlog like a shippable package, once packed and ready for shipping, never opened until by the customer (i.e. at sprint review).
