What is a Scrum Team?

Показать описание
Curious about what a Scrum team consists of? John McFadyen walks us through a brief overview of what a Scrum Team is and how the Scrum Master integrates into that team.
The Scrum Guide defines the scrum team as a scrum master, a development team, and a product owner.
A great scrum team is often less than 6 people in total but it can go as high as 8 to 9 people.
The Scrum team are responsible for solving complex problems and building products or services that truly delight customers.
A product owner is responsible for determining the product vision and articulating that vision in an inspiring way to the team. They also work on creating a backlog of items, in priority, that determines what needs doing and how that will add value to the customer or end user.
A scrum master is the glue that binds the scrum team together and works with both the product owner as well as the development team to work through the backlog and create products that delight customers.
They often perform a coaching role and help the team to thrive. Often, they will also work with people outside of the scrum team to remove impediments that may be blocking progress within the team.
A great scrum master coaches the development team and product owner through the scrum process and helps ensure that the team are delivering valuable work in short iterations known as sprints.
The development team consist of the people who are the subject matter experts and actively do the work. Because of their expertise and capabilities, they are the ones who decide how to fix the problem or how to create the product or service or feature that is on the backlog.
Their experience empowers them to estimate how long an item will take to complete and they often work as a unit to create the product, service or feature to the best of their ability. They learn from each iteration and share that knowledge to improve the team as a whole.
The development team meet daily to discuss what is on their radar for the day ahead and report any potential impediments or problems to the Scrum Master who in turn seeks a remedy for that situation or problem.
The development team work closely with the product owner to ensure that they are producing the most valuable work for the product stakeholders and that they have clarity behind what needs doing and why it needs doing.
