Virtual Production: The future of filmmaking

By now, you've seen virtual production featured in many of the most popular movies and TV shows. This really showcased to me why The Volume used for The Mandalorian had a sky panel as well as the wall panels. I think the more consistent lighting makes for a more immersive image.

Can you share with us how do you cope with virtual cam with real cam offset problem due to censor imprecision? My studio is having trouble, after using the real camera to move the virtual camera for a while, they will start to show offset which is intolerable ;(

Wow! That looks like a really good day on set! What was the dot pitch on the LED panels? Did you have issues with moire? Did you run into problems with refresh rate / frame rate flicker? The motion was silky smooth - no jitter of jumping. Nice! Did you have any noticable lag?

not sure if you guys even respond to comments... but ive been setting up to test this idea but on a poor mans scale where i use the "screen" behind the green screen footage in unreal via another game engine to do the rendering, lighting etc in 4-8k... just wondering have you guys did any testing with virtual screens with the same concept as the led walls you made?

Hi I am very excited for this technology. Please don’t take this the wrong way but certain shots still look ‘fake’. 1:31 for example - it’s so clear the background isn’t really behind her. From a business perspective this is incredible but it doesn’t have that ‘real’ feel about it. I am curious: what are the drawbacks of this technology?
