I’m a Digital Animation Student and I’m looking forward to specialize in VFX. I just learnt 40 minutes ago about Virtual Production and I’m MINDBLOWN this looks amaziiiing. This way to produce digital projects feels so natural and dynamic, I think this is incredible and I can’t wait till I have the opportunity to participate and work with this kind of production. I’m so amazed rn I don’t know I haven’t learnt this at school a fricking ANIMATION SCHOOL. Anyways, congrats to everyone working on this <3

Weta Digital was the first to implement Virtual Production in film making. First on Lord of the Rings and then James Cameron took that further on Avatar. Its essentially now the staple of movie production. Bu the big difference was in those days, they didn't have the advantage of using a game-engine. It was mostly super bare boned sets and props - bare minimum type of stuff. Now that game engines are available to anybody, you can finally achieve that high-quality look but in real-time which is just the next level.

I have both Windows and macOS operating systems; and I don't understand why Unreal doesn't release a macOS version of Unreal Studio.

The future of film making will be a combination of Brain to Computer interfacing along with AI, and at some point Augmented Intelligence. In 15-20 years you will see movies made by one person in a days time that would rival and blow away blockbusters of today. We can already see hints of this through Deepfakes and Neural Networks. With Elon Musk's NeuralLink, with future generations of it, B2C interfacing will change every aspect of entertainment. Movies, music, games, you name it, an amateur will be able to do it, and quickly become better and better at it. Paired with Neural Network AI doing the horses share of the work, and being able to make suggestions and give tons of choices depending on the input the user gives, you will see worlds, characters, plots, voicework, and every other aspect tackled with this tech. I am looking forward to seeing Star Wars Episodes 7, 8, and 9 be redone, and I will have probably a lot of choices to choose from. Something being canon won't matter anymore, well at least the crap that ended up as canon.

I could go into a lot more tech, but I'll just say the future will be reaped by Artists, Engineers, Architects, and Imaginative Creators and Tinkerers. THIS IS THE REAL FUTURE OF FILM MAKING! HOLLYWOOD WILL DIE!

Nope. VP as described will repeat VR' path to nowhere. Only small part of this can survive. Virtual Camera maybe.
