I've been watching Cam Newton since his college days at Auburn. I became a fan after he came to Clemson and beat my Tigers in over time. They went on to win the National Championship that year. With the #1 overall pick the Carolina panthers drafted Cam Newton and from the moment he put on that Carolina jersey he gave everything he had to the team. He was Rookie of the year and only qb in history to throw over 400yrds in their NFL debut. Seemingly over night Cam became every NC and SC kids hero. They all wanted to be like Superman and imitate Cam Newtons play style. He had the whole nation dabbing and doing the S on your chest celebrations. He turned the Panthers into a house hold name and took us to 4 play off appearances and 3 division titles. In 2015 he was the 1st black qb to win the mvp award and helped Carolina obtain a franchise best 15-1 regular season record and a superbowl appearance. He hold multiple panthers records including most passing yards, passing touchdowns, and rushing touchdowns. Still today if you go the a panthers game you will see people wearing #1 cam Newton jerseys all over the place. He gave Carolina everything he had and as a Carolina fan it saddens me to see him not honored.

Can newton was the reason my dying grandpa had happiness right before he passed. My grandpa saw him get drafted in 2011 and I got to watch him break the passing record for most yards by a first game rookie ever (not sure if it still stands today) and I got to watch cam with my grandpa play like 4 games from the hospital bed before he died. My grandpa never got to see how much cam newton changed the panthers for us NC natives but cam getting drafted to Carolina is the reason my grandpa had a lot of happiness in his finals day is will always be my favorite player of all time. I watched every single game cam played in, the lows the more lows and the highest of highs. I watched him mature and grow as a person, I watched the hurt cam felt in the Super Bowl from the mistake of that fumble and not jumping on it. (Absolutely isn’t the reason we lost, our #6 defense played horribly for 60 minutes and we just happened to also go up against one of the 10 best defenses ever in Denver) but with everything that happened I just wanted to say.


Thank you Cameron Jerrell Newton. You brought happiness to my family and I for so many years. Can you made so many young children happy and you are a legend in all our hearts. Carolina should be ashamed for not recognizing the best panther in their franchises history.

My dad was a Washington Redskin fan until Cam came to the Panthers. He was raised in Alabama and had been an Auburn fan since he was a kid. He started watching Carolina games and buying Panther memorabilia all because of Cam Newton. I’ll always have a sentimental spot for Cam Newton. I hope Carolina gives him the respect he deserves.
