For all its flaws, I love this film. So atmospheric and original. The first time you see Radu Molasar surrounded by smoke is amazing and such an original effect. Oddly, I think Ian McKellen is the weak link in this movie. In my opinion his acting was not upto the high level I have come to expect from him. I would love to see the orginal cut.

I feel kinda bad because I've never really liked this movie but I ordered it on a lark when it dropped. I had absolutely no idea it was going to sell out in 48hrs (in fact I was having buyer's remorse for letting FOMO get to me) so now I have this very special and now very rare Limited Edition cult movie that everybody wants but can't get.

The disc is pretty good. Loved the booklet with the essays and the quality of the transfer. Only the Michael Cutler interview had problems--really bad audio over-modulation. Other than that it's a great release and I'm thrilled to finally own a copy of the film.

But definitely if you have audible, check out the audio addition of the book! The narrator is amazing doing the voices and everything

I remember seeing this for the first time on cable as a little kid, I was probably 10 years old. It blew my mind! I just recently read the book the audio as well. Highly recommend checking out the original source material. The author, of course couldn’t stand the movie because it is really different. I mean in the sense that the hero character is really flushed out and you really get a sense of what he’s there to do. And the villain is more vampiric than what we see in the film. But I love the look of molar in the film! I love the film and the movie. It’s like comparing the shining movie to the shining book.

Vinegar Syndrome still hasn't shipped this title or any part of my 9 disc order from Black Friday! Imprint is to be commended for being the one who licensed "The KEEP" from Paramount years ago for a standard DVD release. It would be amazing if they get a shot at releasing the raw trims (which do exist) as part of their Blu Ray/4K release next year! Michael Mann would have to be involved for the trims to ever be included in a newly cut edition. May never happen, as Paramount offered Mann the chance to create a Director's Cut back in 2010 for a possible DVD release. He refused.

watched this film back in the day when i was younger and remember enjoying it even tho its a very divisive i can see wuy some people might not like it i thought it was very atmospheric with a great score its stuck with me till this day gonna rewatch it soon : )

The Keep is not a slasher movie, indeed. It is the cursed film from Mann.
