How to build a concrete slab for a backyard shed - Do it yourself

Save yourself money and build a concrete shed slab / foundation for your shed project yourself. This just takes a bit of organization and some labor. If your shed slab / foundation requires more than 1 cubic meter, it may be worth hiring a small pump truck to just pump in the concrete for you. This project cost me about $300 and was about half a cubic meter. The pump truck would have been more than double this price with a 1 cubic meter minimum.

In my suburban neighborhood in the Detroit area you must have a permit to do a concrete project. This eliminates putting a pad with a structure over the right of way for utilities.
Secondly, a pad this size to follow building code must have a rat wall which extends below the frost line.
