Asml ceo once said even if we give the prints ( R&D and design of machine already done for you ) to china the most optimistic number is 10 years for them to come up with theyr own version of it, thats how complicated they are.

The cutting edge knowledge on the chemistry of the components, all those coding work, the work behind making those lenses (Carl Zeiss) and the heart of all this is the machine generating the laser etc.

the chief engineer said in a documentary that 15 years of sweat and blood went in into that thing.

The drops are actually hit with lasers twice. One spreads the droplet into a thin disk so that it plasmafies easier and faster. The second is a CO2 laser that then makes it a plasma.

ASML should be the highest valued company in the world. Without EUV there wouldn't be any modern chip out there. They are a monopoly in a very big and important market.

ASML also couldnt do it alone. They sold themself to their customers to have the capital for the research. And alot of their suppliers are single source. Like Carl Zeiss for the mirrors. You need the combined specialized supplychain of Europa and USA to make these things work. So no way the chinese to it in a few

That's a billion-dollar puzzle and they still need to borrow a few pieces

We should have stopped with the Pentium. That was fast enough for Printshop and Printmaster Plus.

ASML is probably the best tool maker in the game. AMAT is good too but no one can compete with how much effort and thought was put into everything that ASML does. From logistics all the way to installation, they think of everything and have a jig or specialty tool that simplifies the installation process. I don’t see that from any other company in the industry.

While I have worked on this system myself, people often forged it takes a supporting factory to run this machine.

The people inventing this probably dont even know where they got this from

First laser is a q switched CO2 laser that vaporizes the tin drop, the second one hits it with a KrF excimer laser that ionized it to EUV emitting plasma. Also all the optics are reflective mirrors. The laser driven monochromatic EUV light source is engineering feat that is even more extreme than a literal moonshot.😮

Blows my mind how much of our modern lives relies on these machines. So few people are able to develop these things, wonder what will happen if we lose engineers to a lack of interest?

Make larger ones first.n this why VR headset are important

The high UV actually cost $380 million. We have one at Intel. And then Till also purchased the next five units coming from ASML to create the one nanometer chip.

The stock doesn’t perform as well as their products

The chips are quantum computer chips . The best so far is named "willow" ! Quantum computing is going mainstream ! Trump calls it America's golden age . Leap America Leap, quantum leap !

The Chinese will soon have more advanced machine at maybe 25 million
