It takes a brave man to openly admit his mistakes. This will make you stronger going forward.

Not everything went wrong, you are fixing up a solid house and you now live in Sweden, could be a lot worse. Good luck with the renovation!

My father bought that house in -87 and rented it out. He sold it in -92 if I remember correctly. So nice to see that someone is taking care of it 🙂 The teacher who lived there is said to have spent pretty much her entire salary on plants for her quite impressive garden!

You still made it. You deserve respect man. Many would just give up, but you didn't!

I saw a guy on norwegian TV who had to make a small room inside the barn to keep warm in the winter while working on the house. It turned into a very successful home. It is possible! Hang in there!

I am restoring a 150-year old sandstone house in Czech Republic, also thought it would be easy, also ending up replacing the roof. New electrics, water, heating system, all floors replaced because they were rotten (ground level, first floor, attic - about 170m2). This is the 3rd year, made big progress the first 1.5 years, then had a break (while living there) and now i have started again, next to my regular day job. The purchase price was about 100.000 euros, the restoration costs are probably close to that sum as well - and likely to go up. Last winter the lowest bedroom temperature was 3 degrees. Did a fair bit of insulation, so now it should be more pleasant inside. These projects take a mental toll. Don't give up! And the best it's done, I'll probably sell the house. Dreaming of a house in France now :-)

Great post!

My late father’s parents both immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden 🇸🇪 in the 1920s and his mother’s childhood home is still standing today in Arvika over 100 years later. It’s now used as a rest area for cross country skiers.

Someday I hope to make the trip there…

I love the way you tell the story and dont make it longer than it should. Honestly I think if you start being more consistent with your uploads the channel can take off.

Great for hanging in there. We learn as we go. Always leave room for the unexpected. Expect the unexpected.

Quite the opposite from the gleeful happy renovation videos I have watched. I’m impressed by your ingenuity. Well done.
