Thumbs up! This is perhaps the most surprising, candid and informative Youtube channel I have ever found. I expected that the video's title was merely 'clickbait', and would offer no basis for making such a provocative statement. But, I was shocked to see the aerial photo of the dam's distortion. YIKES!. The simulation and the cities affected were even more alarming.

I placed a ruler on my screen to emphasize the distortion. Just based on proportions, the distortion shown at 5:28 must AT LEAST be one percent of its length (although it looks more like 2%). But even at 'just' 1%, with a 2355 meter overall length, the distortion corresponds to 23.55 meters (77 feet !!!!)

While I hope the dam will not collapse, the photograph alone should be enough to terrify anyone living downstream. Clearly, the dam's foundations are NOT anchored to bedrock. How much more will it continue to distort, and how much distortion can it accommodate before risk of catastrophic failure? How China's experts can declare distortion so visibly obvious as being 'within the normal range' is beyond me.

As an engineer, I would like to suggest one correction in terminology. At 7:20 you said the 'SPEED' will be 100+km/hr. But, starting at 8:03, and from then on, you switch terminology by referring to its speed as 'FLOW RATE'. Speed and flow rate have different units of measure. At least as I was taught, 'Flow Rate' implies VOLUMETRIC (meters^3/second), not LINEAR motion. It would be more concise to stick with the term 'speed' or 'velocity'...The flood front would initially advance at 100+ km/hr and enter the first city at a speed of 70km/hr.

Mother nature always wins, and the consequence of such failure will be catastrophic.

1. From Wuhan to Jiujiang city is about 200km. Lie between these two cities is Huanggang county along the north bank of the Yangtze river. Over 6 million people live here, too.
2. The most revered book in China (or at least in ancient China) is titled "I-Ching", which means movement, motion, not standstillness. So, based on this principle alone, the three gorges dam will eventually collapse.
The ironic & fatal mistake in the design of this dam is that it is a LONG & STRAIGHT wall. (It should have had an ARC or parabola form like the Hoover dam near Las Vegas. ).
3. The nature of Mother-Nature is that she will strike at the least expected moment of time, just like the Tangshan earthquake in 1976 before Mao died.

The dam is damaged beyond any repair . The best that can happen is for it to remain standing till the rainy season end . Then the ccp will steady dismantle it to cause the least damage to the country. Its not going to survive next years monsoon season . If not dismantled then next year will see the disaster predicted in the video. Better advise all in the affected area to make plans and move to high ground quickly this year, definitely before next year rainy season.

Something to make note of: the simulation is very wrong about how the dam will fail. The entire dam will not suddenly break apart. Depending on what actually triggers the dam failure, it could look several different ways: breach, where part of the dam fails and water pours through a hole; base collapse, where some instability causes part of or even all of the the dam to fall (loose ground for instance, think like quicksand); spillover/overflow, where the water literally rises higher than the dam and pours over, which can also lead to breaches; internal collapse, where connecting structures inside the dam itself fail, ultimately leading most likely to a breach (some think this is what may happen due to vibration caused by excess water flow running through the spill way gates). If the dam collapses, it will be in pieces, not all at once like in video.
