I'm not bashing Aaron, but I wonder how he feels on a good 5-piece drum set with only a normal hi-hat, normal crash, and a normal ride. I wonder if he feels refreshed from his crazy, but still awesome, drum set.

Does metric modulation only cover eight note to triplet patterns?

well I don't think so

You can also do it from 8th Triplets to 16th Notes
and I have never done it but from 16th Notes to Quintuplets is possible to (I think )
and so on ....
