Giraffe picks up toddler at Texas drive-thru safari

She was riding in the back of a pick up truck in Glen Rose when a very hungry giraffe went in for some food and pulled the little girl up with her mouth.

I was scratching my head when I saw this video, why.. why are they in the back of the truck?? I live in Texas and have been to Glen Rose a couple times, you are not allowed outside your vehicle!! 🤯

I love the way the parents combated any present and/or future trauma by getting their child a toy giraffe…good job on not feeding that fear!

I went to this park with my family few years ago and one of the rules is to make sure you stay inside of your car at all times! They got all sorts of animals including lions and tigers roaming the property and I can’t believe those parents had their toddler in the bed of a pick-up truck

Most safari parks have signs saying "Stay in your vehicle." Where is the reporting on whether this family violated park rules by having a SMALL CHILD in an open pickup bed? Where is the child safety lecture from Texas DFPS about car seats and seat belts, neither of which was in use in this video? A toy giraffe does not make up for a fundamental lack of consideration for the safety of the child. At the very least an SAPD spokesperson could describe the rules for riding in the back of a pickup. This "news" item is woefully incomplete!

The giraffes 🦒 likely thoughts: "look, we at the High Council of the Giraffe Order (CGO) have chosen your daughter to be our next Queen Caretaker. If you don't mind - I'll secure your daughter and step out." 😅. Glad to see that the baby girl was unharmed.

Why is she in the back of an open vehicle in a wild safari??? The mother was reckless

If she didn't have the snack bag so close her chest; in fact, an adult should've been the 1 holding the bag. It should be a prerequisite that if your a parent good to a place w/ ride and/ animals you should be the ADULT. Because of carelessness they would've cost that animal their life.

I don't know about the laws in Texas, but in Michigan if your sitting in the back of a pick up truck. You will get ticketed for a reason. That is not safe at all. Especially letting a child sit back there without seat belt. That little girl got lucky, and the zoo should have strict policy 🙄 not letting trucks with passengers in the open go in like that.
