Massive wave of Ukrainian drone strikes over Russia forces Crimean Bridge to close

Ukraine launched a massive wave of drone strikes overnight that forced the Crimean Bridge to close and grounded flights from Moscow.

Car traffic was suspended over the bridge connecting Crimea with mainland Russia for half an hour, Russian authorities announced, without explaining why.

Three airports in Moscow were forced to impose flight restrictions after five Ukrainian drones were shot down near the Russian capital, Russia’s state aviation watchdog reported.

Russia only has 31 oil refineries. Last summer they were forced to ban exports of diesel because there wasn't enough for farmers for the fall harvest. Last month Putin banned the export of gasoline, because there wasn't enough for domestic use. Those shortages were caused by western sanctions on oil refinery parts... the refineries did not have maintenance for 2 years and were breaking down. That was BEFORE the latest round of attacks where now 14 of the 31 oil refineries have been severely damaged, and again, without western parts, cannot be repaired. Ukraine is targeting the distillation towers, which are by far the most expensive parts of the oil refineries, and the area most reliant on western parts. It is pretty clear the Ukrainian objective. Force Putin to chose between fueling equipment in Ukraine, or having a huge spike in gasoline and diesel prices in Russia... and enough of a shortage that the farmers rebel.
