Aftermath of Russia’s drone attacks in Kyiv and Odesa | Ukraine war

Russia launched a "massive" drone attack on Kyiv in one of its biggest barrages since the war began, the mayor of the capital has said.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said Russia had fired 60 Iranian-made kamikaze drones at Ukrainian targets, including 36 at the capital, all of which had been shot down.

However, debris hit apartments and other buildings, injuring at least five people on the ground.

Mr Klitischko said:  “This was the most massive drone attack on the capital during the entire war."

Russia launched its barrage while preparing for its cherished Victory Day holiday celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.

As many as 16 missile strikes targeted the cities of Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces said in its morning update.

Russia has already lost this war, really. They lost when they were beaten in Kyiv and then lost Kharkiv and Kherson. There are still battles, and people still die. But things are just winding down, really.
