Misinformation and rumors have become a hurdle for locals to rebuild the communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. We were in a hurricane in Biloxi, we heard we could go apply for food help basically emergency food stamps because all our food was ruined, we stood online with small children waiting for hours until it was our turn, very bluntly and quickly they told us to go didn't even fill out the paper work because my husband was a airman in the military they said go you have a good job. We were desperate and hungry and they sent us away.

People require an internet connection to apply and everyone impacted by the hurricane doesn't currently have access to an internet connection. Everyone impacted in the region couldn't evacuate to South Carolina. That's not misinformation.
