Funniest thing about it is that when I was going to watch it, I expected random switches but it seems like Ajax mainly had 1 head i.e Cryuff called the switches and he primarily did that so that he can have time on the ball as that was; most of the time their best chance to score.

It really is true though. I think everyone relates to watching their own team play and their lack of positional awareness and team tactics to pass the ball when necessary and only shoot when the chances are higher over lower when there is no risk necessary. This style is arguably the best system to play well and safe. But he made a very good point. You can't have everyone play this style. Actually, total football's greatest strength (or one of them) is that the press off the ball doesn't need to be proactive because of the positioning of the is why pep's teams are known for "useless passes"....it's not to create chances, those passes are to allow the team to get in the perfect shape to allow the individual strengths of the players to create chances (think doku, messi, robben) and to make any player an extremely effective defender regardless of physical traits (think stones, rodri, schwinesteiger, xavi). If every turnover is immediately followed by a double team with a 50/50 challenge, you will dominate possession. Teams will sit back and be scared, that's why you need players who can be brilliant.
