SUMMARY:
- #1. A ball doesn’t bounce off anything, and there’s nobody else there but you, yet the ball still comes straight back into your hands. How can this be?
- #2. Then let’s get serious. A man is sitting in his cabin in New York. A few hours later he walks out of this same cabin in Dallas. How is this possible?
- #3. A cow is tied with a 10-foot rope. There’s a bale of hay 50 feet away from it, but the animal still easily goes and eats it. How does it do that?
- #4. A person leaves home and makes three left turns. Then he (or she) runs back home and meets two people wearing masks. Who are they?
- #5. If a sundial has the least moving parts of any timepiece, then which one has the most?
- #6. Parents have 5 sons, and each son has a sister. How many children do they have?
- #7. There are only two barbers in town. Which one should you choose to give you a haircut?
- #8. One of the trains finishes crossing it much later than the first. Why?
- #9. Why are 1990 pennies worth more than 1989 pennies?
- #10. There’s a carrot, a scarf, and several pieces of coal randomly lying around a lawn. How have they ended up there?
- #11. Two of horse's legs made 31 miles, while the other two only made 30 miles. How is this possible?
- #12. Mr. Jenkins doesn’t have any superpowers, but he can predict the score of any football match before it begins. How?
- #13. A man walks into a restaurant, and the waiter, seeing him for the first time in his life, says, “Good afternoon, General!” How did he know?
- #14. Guess the next three letters in a sequence: GTNTL
- #15. How many times can you subtract two from fifty?
- #16. Jack is talking to his lawyer in jail. They have just lost the case and are both upset. After the talk, Jack leaves the jail and goes home. How is this possible?
- #17. What did the wise man say to two brothers?
- #18. Why does a man walk those four floors?
- #19. You’re walking along the street alone. There are no stars or the moon in the sky, the streetlamps aren’t working. How did you spot a cat?
- #20. How can you fall out of a window of a 30-story building and get up with hardly a scratch, if there’s no rescue team holding a net for you and nobody else is going to help you?

Hey there, BrightSiders! How many riddles did you solve? Which on was the hardest?

BRIGHTSIDEOFFICIAL
Автор

Here's my perfectly valid alternate solutions.

1. If the ball doesn't bounce off of anything, you could be throwing it through a U-shaped tube.

2. A super long cabin with a rocket chair is pretty implausible, but that's only if you assume it's Dallas, Texas. Dallas, Pennsylvania is only 129 miles away.

3. Cows can wriggle out of restraints or break whatever they're tied to as well. Also, if the cow was downhill from the hay bale, she could just wait for it to roll over toward her.

4. It could be anyone if this is during trick-or-treat, or anywhere around Halloween. Most likely it's just thieves, though.

5. Stephen Hawking thought that time is merely the direction in which entropy increases. Put simply, the perceived direction of time is the direction of an ordered state getting more and more chaotic. The timepiece with the most moving parts is the universe itself.

6. Given that the sister(s) could be from different families due to other marriages or adoption, I'd say anywhere between 6 and 10.

7. The clean one. I doubt they're trusting the competition with something they consider that important, so the fact that the first barber does that good of a job on his own hair is astounding! Even if you pick wrong, you still get a pretty good atmosphere.

8. They must be on different tracks, or else they would have rammed into each other. One of the tracks must have different turns on the same bridge. It also never said that they started crossing at the same time, so one probably had a head start.

9. It depends on the coin and the collector. Various rare imperfections can get you thousands of dollars if you sell it in the right online auction. Pennies also technically became more rare after Australia discontinued them in 1990, *coin*cidentally. There was a "Price Rounding Act" in America in 1989 that tried to get rid of the penny, but it's still around in the U.S.

10. Since nobody put them there on purpose, that rules out a snowperson. Unless the snowperson traveled there through outside forces or on its own accord, of course. There's also a hat in the animation that the question doesn't mention, so it's most likely just the remnants of some community sales event with multiple different types of vendors.

11. This could be due to rounding, if the middle of the horse went exactly 30.5 miles. Or if it was two people in a horse costume, they probably separated before heading to their homes, one of which was just a mile further. Both of these agree with the video labeling the front legs as going farther than the back legs.

12. The score is not yet zero until they begin. Still, anyone can predict the score of any game without superpowers. You never said he was correct.

13. The man could be just wearing a costume, even if the waiter knows that generals have gold parts to their uniforms. Even if the waiter had great eyesight and could see the nametag, it might still be a costume. The waiter must greet anyone he doesn't know as "general", and for people he does know, he greets them as "specific".

14. I can see the message on the board, but that's extrapolating and not guessing. If I were to guess the next three letters, I'd probably say "R, I, P", which is generally what happens after you put "TNT" in the middle of something.

15. I can subtract 2 from 50 as many times as I dang well please. The only real limit is time in a lifespan and patience for such a redundant task.

16. It's jail, not prison. That means that either person who is behind bars is there for under a year, and could just be serving a day sentence. Alternate alternate solution - they were both named Jack.

17. The horses look identical, so the king would likely just think they're trying to fool him. The hermit most likely revealed some terrifying secret about the kingdom that made them both not want to inherit it. Since the king is making radical choices like pitting the sons against each other instead of having them both inherit the kingdom, I'm guessing the king is mad and put the kingdom into horrendous debt. Alternate alternate solution, more cheesy than the previous - the wise hermit convinced them that the real important thing is to spend as much time with their father as possible if he's making decisions about his will and they've been gone for several days.

18. Sounds like textbook superstition to me! (Oh hey, that other person is one of the sisters from the 6th question!)

19. This one is a tricky one, but you can plainly see it in the video. The cat was illuminated by the light bulb next to the "Subscribe" button that appeared in the video. Alternate alternate solution - you used echolocation. It said the cat is silent, but not that you were silent.

20. You just have to aim for the window below, especially if you're swinging on something and the window is open. (Absolutely do not try this at home or elsewhere!)

Bonus: The bear is a no-go because it already says that it will maul you as soon as you enter. The shark can still flop around and reach for you, but a giant scorpion wouldn't be able to stand under its own weight.

11:12 Yes, it is. But you said that there are NO STARS in the sky, which would mean that it would’ve had to have been a cloudy NIGHT, with all of the stars being covered up by the clouds. Because if there was enough light to see your way, then the sunlight would have to be bright enough to make it through the clouds in order for you to see where you were going. Which would mean that there was a star that was visible in the sky.

The key to this is our listening skills. Like how you jump out of the window on a 30-story building, but you didn't say which window so everyone thinks that it's the thirtieth floor. That one completely threw me.
