Okay I'm such a musical theatre lover so I'm going to answer the questions right here because honestly I am bored and have nothing better to do 😂
1.The very first musical I saw live must've been this Dutch production of Doornroosje, which is Sleeping Beauty. I think I was 5 or 6 and I loved it so much!! I actually bought the VHS tape (wow so old) and the cd and to this day I remember all the songs and all the lines and everything I was obsessed with it(the whole soundtrack is still on spotify and I catch myself still listening to it)
2. Such a hard question!! But for sure Wicked, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot, Urinetown, Flashdance, Grease and Tarzan !
3.I've been in some small local productions and most of them were written for us so non existing musicals. But my absolute favorite was for sure a musical about Anne Frank, and I had the honor to play Anne Frank. It was so beautiful and powerful.
4. Really want to see Les Miserables, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen and Matilda
6. Ofcourse Idina Menzel! But my absolute favorite is Willemijn Verkaik who played Elphaba in Germany, The Netherlands, West End and Broadway. I will link some amazing beautiful dutch perfomances of her:
Oh and some other Dutch ones I really love, Rene van Kooten, Celinde Schoenmaker, Chantal Janzen, Tommie Christiaan, Simone Kleinsma
7. Sandy in Grease
8. Could never pick just 5!
9. Same
10. A musical that changed my life is this huge Dutch production named 'Soldaat van Oranje' which means Soldier of orange. It's this musical set in world war 2 and it honestly changed my life and my outlook on life. I went there years ago with my high school and I came out as a different person, not kidding. It's also in a huge venue and the crowd actually turns during the musical so you get different sets with an actual beach with a sea, and people driving around on motorcycles and an actual airplane it's insane😂
Bonus questions:
A song that always makes me cry: Slipping through my fingers from Mamma Mia, I dreamed a dream from Les Mis, and Morgen is vandaag from Soldaat van Oranje
Next musical I plan to see: West Side Story! Because the actual broadway production+cast is coming to the Netherlands so I obviously have to see that. Oh and the Lion King hopefully in the beginning of next year.
