This is a straight combat knife they clearly stated in the description that it's for tactical use. If you wanted to do it all knife I would recommend the srk

for camping/survival. I would recommend the Ontario SP10. If you want to "stick a pig" This will be perfect.

I been using one of these to trim up 200KG of brisket each day 5 days a week for 3 years. I absolutely love it.

They have remade the same knife in a saber grind which is more suitable for chopping than a hollow grind.
The new ones have a stonewash finish rather than the satin finish like the one you have.
I got mine for 65$ online (Here in the US)

its 80$ knife, and every men should know how to re-sharpen their blade according to their needs, this grind you dislike is for fighting.

I think you just caught a Bad one , I have a bunch of Cold Steel Knives and Never had any problems, but I do understand your frustration , it is only one knife, I always thought that knife, which I also own, was a Fighting knife , anyway C.S. has other knives alot better suited for Survival like the Recon Scout , Trail Master or an SRK ...👍🖖

Can you show use the new edge you put on that blade although it's your back up now ?

A bit of the issue is. These are far more expensive outside of the United States.

That's a martial knife, not a survival knife. Their marketing makes me think there is something wrong with the heat treatment though. Could also be they made the edge too thin for that steel.

That's a unfortunate issue you have with your blade, but it not the normal, you very possible may have gotten a bad knives the was over heated when being sharped, but as one commenter stated it's a fighting knife, and with that Sub Hilt that for certain but it still should be able to chop because I have seen videos of them doing chops and yes the Stonewashed model is a more suitable chopping blade with it's Saber Grind & The Satin blade as you have is more for slicing, but they both should chop good just that the Saber should be a bit better 🔪🗡️🔪🗡️

Aus 8 sucks. Just ordered one though 🤷🏿‍♀️
