A person in Reddit said that working 44 hours in Singapore is crazy. Then a boomer decided to defend her instead of saying that she’s “weak”. Here’s why.

I do feel tired after work from 8.30am to 6pm and I get where the Reddit OP is coming from. I would crash on my bed after work and don’t really have time during weekdays to work on other things except over the weekends.

Gen Zs will change the working world! I say it as a millenial. I fully support them in asking questions like why are the working hours so damn long? 9am to 6pm is really more than half your day gone (day time is only 12h. And you need 8h to sleep. So if you spend 9h at work and 2h for commute, you only have 1h left for your leisure time, which you will use for bathing and eating dinner or maybe gym etc). Sorry, but 9h a day at work won't give anyone any work life balance unless it's a 3.5 day work week. Human beings die spiritually when they no longer have time to work on their hobbies and spend time with their loved ones or even with themselves. With technology, we are really more efficient workers but we have to draggg it out in a workday just to fulfill the stagnant working hours. Does that make sense? I think not. Boomers should wake up their idea and know that the world has changed. Hope this girl will find a job with more flexible working arrangements soon. Leave the boomer working hours for the boomers who can accept it.

Human body needs to rest every 4.hours. tats why China allows napping (I think). Corporate world should start rethinking changing working hours in view of technology advancement. We need to work long in the past bcos work process are slower. But now tat work process are faster our brain cells need to work even harder to catch up with the process speed. So company should reduce working hours workdwide

she should find a company that offers 9am to 6pm (40hrs) office hours. 8:30am-6pm to fulfill maximum allowable 44hours does feel more tiring for some reason.
