Update: I notice there are people that are coming into this video expecting to see dark skin curly hair people after all we are being conditioned to think one particular way but not realizing the Fate of so many enslaved Africans throughout South America many of them intermingled with the indigenous people and some cases became high priests or shamans for those tribes this is also discuss in this video throughout my travels through South and Central America I am constantly exposed to this evidence and many of those times I have come across people who are unaware of their true heritage for many particular reasons one of them is because of survival either way that does not negate or change people's heritage regardless of how you may feel which is mostly based ofThe Society that you were brought up so I would ask you if you do watch this video open up your mind in think do these people have an ancestor who was an enslaved African and the answer for many of the people in this video would be yes. in fact in many cases which is also shown in this video you will see that many of these people have grandparents who are as black as your grandparents or so before you come on this video to complain about why you don't see someone black or if they don't have any African heritage please try to use some logic because many of you guys are showing me how ignorant you are in the comments section and I'm not here for that especially when you see so many who are openly celebrating their african heritage.

I appreciate this video so very much! I have had the honor of reconnecting with my heritage throughout the diaspora. Peru was life changing for me. Santiago is on my wish list, along with Eritrea.
I love that they are using dance to keep the oral history tradition going.

A tragically overlooked and forgotten part of our history. Thank you for making this video.

Simply fantastic. African blood is stirring this renaissance.
I invite them to Nigeria in Africa to meet real Africans, see and learn traditional dances.

This is your calling, brotha! I'm proud of what you're doing to tell our story across continents. I've learned more from you about the Afro connection from a global perspective than I did in college. Thank you for reigniting my thirst for knowledge in this space. I may not know you personally, but I love you, my brother. Chao!

I really appreciate these documentary style videos. I've been subscribed since 2020 during the lockdown and still watch. I rarely comment but your videos are great. I keep watching because you are a genuine kind hearted soul who accept people where they are, and don't try to judge or place your ideas on them. Wishing you continued success on your channel/journey.

Phenomenal work, Ace! Not just for this latest work but for all of the previous videos that you have filmed throughout South America. As an Afro-descendant myself, I always knew that wherever a Spaniard or Portuguese landed and set up shop (althought they were not the only ones involved in slavery during the period between the 1500's through the late 1800's), Africans slaves were also carried, imported and bred. Over the years, history has proven me right.

As a young kid I did some research about the African slave trade in Chile. According to what I found, around 500 Africans were taken to Chile. Shortly after their arrival the slave practice was discontinued. A quantity that small can easily fade away over as short as 150 years. People die, mix with the inhabitants of the area, during that time mainly the mestizos and indigenous people (the Aymara and the Quechua). African influence can be heard and felt in Aymara music. I do not know if many would have gone southward to mingle with the Mapuche.

In either case, the genes, sporadic characteristics, some not so obvious, would be passed on to the general population without an Afro-related consciousness in most cases without an Afro-descendant consciousness to ignite it. Be it as it may, you can't wipe out the spirit. On the other hand, duing my 69 years, I have been able to sense an akin connection to people from different Latin American countries. Then, find out that they were Afro-descendant, and most of them had very few, if any detectable physical characteristics. So yes, I could sense that they are members of the African diaspara. Ultimately, if you get people in a place or venue, put food, drink, music and dance in the mix, you will find all types of commonalities that you have with people. Just think! You never know who you might be related to! Thank you for your hard work, Ace!

Amazing, Ace !❤
One of the reasons I would feel so " encantado" to visit Chile. Arica is therefore the place to be. They are not darker than I am but watching these people celebrating their African ancestry is a blessing !
Muchas gracias !

This was a wonderful, insightful and enlightening piece of docu-content ACE!! The content and quality of questions and interviews are first class. With an increasing volume of mind numbing 'entertainment' flooding YouTube this channel is incredibly informative and is an oasis for those seeking knowledge while also pursuing moments of joy and entertainment.
