My 1997 E39 523i M52 Stock without catalyst and with around 256.000km does 255km/h on flat Autobahn at aroud 6500U/min in 5th Gear the car runs into limiter. I think if I would have a 6th Gear I could reach more than 255km/h.

puh, der ist ja genau so schnell wir mein 528i (e39 - bj 2000). Ich glaube bei meinem passiert es lediglich ein Tick flotter da hin zu kommen, aber absolute unwesentlich. Hmm... nicht schlecht.

i dont know what it is, but when i drive my E39 i never want to speed. It sounds stupid, it feels just so relaxing driving it. But when i take out my Porsche 928 i always have to drive 200+ never know what that is. Maybe the noise in the car, i want to be home as fast as possible, so i will speed. The E39 is so silent inside, its quieter then the Tesla my boss drives haha.

this is not stock 2.3 vanos ;) chip or swap on 2.8 ;)
