JD, your video is so wonderfully explanatory. I have a lovely K&D Staking kit that someone in my place conveniently took my manual. Your video clearly explained to me how the balance stabilizer works to hold the arms of the balance flat to the staking plate for safe removal of the balance staff. Excellent videos. Keep them coming!

We, well JD one of us, has long nails, they come in handy when working on the watch and dial indicators we refurbish for ourselves, so when we are filming it is a badge of honor to us when we zoom in which we do a lot as you know all you or us work on is really I mean really small. You videos are new to these two guys, but you do a great job filming and your patient has prevailed a lot since we watched a video you filmed about 18 months ago.

Great video. It's advised, when, by the manufacturer of your K&D staff remover, to rotate the lever arm so it rests against the back of the of the staking anvil. It stabilizes the tool and prevents the possibility of the tool loosening and jumping. Bunnspecial has done a fantastic video on the use of this type of tool. Its where I learnt The use of mine.

Hi JD, 1. Is the rivet on the hairspring side or the roller table side?. 2. What brand of lathe and size do you use?, 3. Where did you get the eye loupe with an LED attachment? Thanks, Excellent video!!!

I tried that with high speed steel graver and it wouldn't remove any material, only dulled the graver. That was an Elgin staff. I've read u.s. made staffs are very hard. May I ask what your graver is?

Hi Jd,

This is a great video, but You do whole the thing wrong… You
need to put in the collet the other side of the staff – where the hairspring
sits, and then – to cut the table of the staff, so the balance will go out in direction,
opposite to the riveting. Then You will need nothing more than press the
staff slightly and it will go out…
