🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧

ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. Whether it’s being ‘held’ by someone you have confidence in, or ‘looked after’ by someone with authority, or just feeling ‘safe’ with someone you trust, it uses audio-visual triggers to enable you to let go of your worries and stresses – even just for a bit.

📽 What is FPC? 🎞

FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds – just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos – but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.

In this video, Jim really reminds me of an audiologist I once had when I was being diagnosed with auditory processing disorder. Same sort of humour, and a wonderfully reassuring vibe - he made my diagnosis much less daunting. This video reminded me of some good memories <3

I have mild tinnitus in my left ear. Interestingly enough, it almost vanishes when I watch an ASMR video like this one. I live in the USA and over about 25 years of my life, I chose to get around on a bicycle. I always rode by the rules of the road and since I rode on the right side of the road, my left ear got the brunt of the traffic noise. Thank you, Jim.

Quite apart from anything else, this guy's bedside manner is terrific! I like how different he is from the eye doctor character, who comes off rather stuffy and self-serious, but still compelling.
