Apologies for the overdriven voice over in places, folks! Bit of a mic mess recording this one. Should be fixed by next time :)

I always love the effect of the paint brush in most paintings, be they miniatures or canvas. That, and I appreciate an actual 'no-airbrush' tutorial, and especially enjoyed how you use some basic acrylics you can find just about anywhere art supplies are sold as your base coating and base highlight and shade.

Nice one mate, thanks! As someone whose limiting factor on an airbrush is space rather than cost, I do enjoy an airbrushing video but its tutorials like these that really help me. So thanks again!

Tried this out yesterday and like you, the drybrushing detracts from the overall result. Otherwise it was surprisingly fast (even for a single head). I’ll give it one more go, using glossier paint (ie. without matting agents) for drybrushing and if that doesn’t work either, the lighter colours will have to go on as thin layers.

I really need to start playing with oils. Great addition to the skin tone technique here and I've seen some incredible dirt/grime/weathering done with them as well.

Great video! I am a 30+ years "veteran" when it comes to painting models/miniatures. And have used Airbrush for 15 years or so. But i have mostly moved away from it now. The reason is that apart from painting, i spend a lot of time setting up, thinning paints, cleaning, keeping everything in working order. So when i time it all, its way faster to paint not using an airbrush. I don't have a dedicated airbrush station, but i do have a dedicated painting station.

When using airbrush, even with acrylic paint, you really need a well ventilated area. So even though i love using it, i get the same results without it, and combined its faster and somewhat easier to paint not using it (for me that is).

With that said, its a fantastic tool to have, and for painting large models, like Warhammer scale tanks and knight, it really does make your life easier. For smaler stuff, its faster to just paint with brush.

Taking pictures of our beatiful painted models is art form, one i havent mastered. =)

Great stuff as always, almost prefer this look to the airbrushed, as the more textured look fits better with my style. 🙂

Was already looking to adapt the airbrush method since I usually fully assemble me models. So perfect timing thank!

I would love to see how you handle bone coloured armor, both with and without an airbrush. With all this Dark Angels hype at the moment I really think you would come up with something amazing

This was awesome. I have a skin project I've been putting off so this will be a perfect chance to test out and learn some of what you shared.

Thanks for all you do brutha.🤜🤛

This is great, I used to follow a method that uses similar theory but a totally different set of paints to achieve it. Gonna give this a go :)

This is good content. I like the explanations about why a certain paint is used. Can’t stand the background music though. Keep it up 👍

Fantastic video! Now, while staying in the same vein of skin (pun intended), how might you take on the unique skin tone of Salamanders?

Wow. Holy shit, you make this look easy.

Are you sealing the heads before oil wash? I always thought you had to gloss varnish for the wash to slip over the surface and the mineral spirits to not affect the paint underneath.

Love the video! If you were painting brown skin (say Indian) would you still basecoat with purple or a different colour?
