Its a brilliant deduction to calculate the speed of light. 1000 seconds is what it took for light to cover the span of Earths orbit. But the position of Jupiter too wouldnt be the same. It would have moved by 15 degrees relative to the Earth. So they had to take that into account as well

Bro sāyaņa was the first person to calculate the speed of light according to him 186282.397 miles per second is the speed of light which is very close to the real one. And it is fascinating that he did this in 14th century the the time when Galileo's parents were not even born. Sāyaņa belongs to India
