The former Chevrolet Volt (discontinued in 2019) has an 18.4 kWhr liquid-cooled battery that manages 50 to 60 miles of EV range. When the battery is depleted, the vehicle seamlessly switches over into hybrid mode averaging around 45 mpg with its 1.5 liter engine. My wife's 2018 Volt needs regular gasoline about once every three months and she is averaging over 200 mpg with her daily 50 mile commute. No range anxiety at all with this vehicle and performance (0-60 mph in under 8 seconds) that would embarrass any of these "futuristic" mini-EV's. BTW, the thermal management of the Volt's battery is amazing with no loss of range in almost 4 years of useage.

Oh my goodness that noise used when they’re advertising the specs is egregious. Very informative video nonetheless.

Its cool to see some big names in the automobile industry alongside smaller companies/startups. It will be interesting to see if the little guys can compete if this market grows.

06:50 UNITY ONE ... extremely interesting seating and space system.
3 seats or excellent loading capacity.
The 2 back seats are practically located aboce the rear wheels.
And when laid flat, you can even transport long, narrow items using the space aside of the driver's seat.

Very interesting video! It’s great to see the possible EV options for urban drivers that are looking for very small EVs. 🚗 ⚡️

My VW e-Up has a 90 mile range, no frills, bells or whistles and didn't cost me a fortune second hand, albeit it was one of the first small production EV's to have regenerative breaking. None of these cars on this list would temp me to change at the moment, the VW e-UP is simply great!

Cool channel guys, just found you. I've always wondered why someone couldn't produce a stylish affordable EV ? These are great, one more thing that would make them better is a 40-50% better performance and battery size.

Don't forget the SOLO by Electra Meccanica! Great little EV. One-seater as name implies. 100mi range. 80mph top speed. 0-60 in about 10 seconds. Looks as nice as the Uniti but overall it's pretty good.

I'll be 84 in April and buying one of these mini-EVs sometime this year.

What they need to do is make pods with wheels that are more inboard, and the vehicles being able to magnetically attach to each other so they can move together as a sort of divided train. That would improve safety and energy expenditure....create a road train for instance. But most of all, there would be huge space savings if the pods didn't need spacing gaps and reaction time to slow down. You could have a 2-across train and each pod could separate when it reached its destination (and so could drive down a center lane on a 3-lane one-way street in big cities)

I love the idea of a city runabout! Perfect for commuting and urban living. I would need to know about heating and air conditioning as well as heated seats for it to be really viable as a vehicle for me. Also the comfort level sitting in it, ease of getting in and out, and the number of cup holders.

I've got a 2020 Smart EQ. Most underrated EV out there right now. Looks great, all the modern features of a hatchback in a tiny car and 90 miles of town range for £16k, and in town you get more like 220eMPG.

It would be nice to hear about the safety features, particularly the strength of the car chassis / body, air bags, and collision avoidance features.
