Very informative video David. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I have two questions about the PTZ Optics 30X Gen2: (1) How capable is it in low light, and (2) does it capture a dynamic range similar to the Canon Vixia?

For what it's worth, we've used 3 of the Vixia's for almost 3 years for our church livestream, and we've been generally pleased. I couldn't agree more that it provided a user friendly solution for our volunteer tech crew and it provides reasonably good video quality, especially in good light.

Thanks again.

Nice overview. The PTZ cameras have many great features but be aware that unless you spend way more to get something like a Sony CN series PTZ the picture quality may not meet your expectations, especially when switching between regular cameras.

We live stream out of 3 Panasonic DMC-G85K set of at the front of the church. They create a visual barrier between the audience and stage. I'd like to move them to the back of the church and side walls meaning the range goes from 2 - 3 meters out to 10 - 15 meters. Can I simply add a lense or do I need a more 'powerful' camera. The other issue will be an added 5 - 8 meters of HDMI cable.

Hi David, thank you for this video ! I was wondering what's the name of the controller for the Canon PTZ if you know, i'm looking for one please :)

Great video! I did not know that PTZ cameras were a thing. In my church the real problem is the weather, it is super hot. 95 f most of the time. So I was thinking in the FX30 or FX3 just because they have a fan., but they are quite expensive. Do you think a camcorder like the sony fdr-ax700 or something like that would work in such hot weathers and for a long period of time without shutting down?

Weird that your Canon 90d shuts off after 30 minutes - can you confirm that? I’ve been using the older 80D for teaching livestreams for literally hours at a time. It basically never shuts off. I’ve been asked to recommend a livestream camera for my church and naturally thought of the 90D thinking it would perform similarly to the 80D, so am somewhat surprised by your video. Thanks.

Given the video title I would have appreciated more information on live stream specific cameras. The photography and AV teams do not tend to share equipment in our church, so I came here looking for the best live stream optimized cameras rather than multi-purpose cameras.

I am looking to upgrade from our Logitech Brio webcam, although it does have a couple features we have come to love. For one, it does not require its own power and hooks up to the computer via USB, so it can be mounted even out of reach on a pillar and still function. And secondly, the video settings can be controlled using OBS's video properties, once again meaning that it does not require manual operation (consider when the camera is mounted somewhere in the middle of the sanctuary but the AV computers are at the back).

Do you have any recommendations that have these features but would still be a meaningful upgrade from our little Logitech Brio webcam? You only briefly mentioned a PTZ camera although they look interesting, and the model you recommended is slightly over our ideal budget. And the MEVO start looks interesting but more options would have been appreciated in that category as well.

Great video. I am a bit confused on the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera. When researching the purchase, I don't see if it includes a lens, or is that purchased separately?

Thanks for the great information! I am looking to upgrade from a Sony camcorder for our church to a PTZ camera but would like the option that has a mini SD card for recording. Currently, we aren't livestreaming. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you! 🎥

Hi David, super thanks for the explanation. Now, I bought a6400, running using HDMI for 70ft long attached to Roland video switcher. The problem is, why the video quality so bad. I try so many things, HDMI, booster, try so many setting on camera etc. But still, video quality is so poor, just like below 480, far from 720p or 1080p . If you don't mind, please give me advise...again super thanks, I am from Jakarta, Indonesia

You've just given options that YOU think are good, but not really a technical analysis. But informative nonetheless. Thank you.

Which camera would you recommend for livestream but from a distance of about 40 meters and getting a shot similar to yours in this video?

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but how do you do the audio of the device for livestream? I'm trying to help friends with their new church but am totally clueless! Thanks so much for any help!

We use a JVC camcorder but it isn't where I would like it. What camcorder would you suggest that can give us 4k and 1080p quality output to youtube. We use OBS. I like camcorders because it's simple and easy to use.

Why it's almost every video I find about camcorder is about budget camcorders... I want to hear feedback on pro camcorders for church ... it just does not make sense to see the mirror less and dlsr and the required lense and you choose some silly camcorder as a comparison 😜
