Hey, Gemma, great video! I wanted to add my two cents. I believe every kind of designer should be ready to give and receive feedback/criticism, that's part of the job. In my experience, juniors aren't (and I don't think they even should be) shielded from criticism. Also, I think that as a junior you should do your best to sit in for every meeting - don't wait for an invite. Ask to be part of conversations early and often. How can you contribute to solving a problem if you aren't involved in discussions about the problem?

Cheers!

If designers don't get harsh criticism, how will they learn?

Great video, gemma! However, I think a junior role's responsibilities in Australia are more like the "mid-weight", we need to hold meetings with clients, take criticisms and manage our own time.

Gemma, I have been munching up your videos for the past two weeks since I discovered you. I'm a self-taught designer looking to break into the field and many of the companies in the US want senior designers. It is great to see a breakdown on the differences between junior and senior levels. I wonder if the junior ever get senior-level work (vary company to company)? Great job on the video. Keep it up

How do you give advice (great advice by the way!) But not know how to spell "patience"?
