Here in Maine we’re known for our Yankee ingenuity (a.k.a. Being REALLY Cheap) so here’s a hot wire foam cutter that we built from scrap wood, a battery charger (you can also use a small lantern battery), the speed controller off a router and a $4 roll of wire from the local hardware store. Enjoy!

Love the speed controller that is genius, I have one of those to dial in my speed on my routers, lathe, drill, jig saw I have another use for it. That is perfect for the exact temp. the wire needs to be without getting too hot.

Question? Is the speedster controll necessary because your using picture wire ?
Could you use just nicrome wire at 2A directly off the charger. I have a charger and am building a bow handle as well as a table just trying to work out the little details and not purchase the speed controller if possible thanks for your advice and this video.
