A 40 on a road bike has been epic for steep climbs in Europe where so many others on Bianchis worth 5 times the price of mine are walking.

Mate please do a vid on comparing your trek madone with ‘Frankenstein’ gearing in relation to these new group sets. Show us yours running and tell us the issues you faced with instillation.

Or just Ignore me. Whatevs

They should have just made STI drop levers for the XT groupset...

Thanks Shimano but no thanks. Already running 36/26 x 11-46t on my gravel adventure bike for a year. Too slow Shimano SMH.

The sub levers are brilliant. It's something, admittedly, I always wanted on my road bike. Added security based on increased stopping options.

“Been riding gravel since it was called dirt.”

I say about time. I have wanted dedicated 1x11 shifters from Shimano for ages.
People say “to late Shimano “, well I bet you won’t see many gravel/adventure bikes next year that don’t have these offerings on rather than the standard Shimano road stuff.

Absoluteblack rubs on my Emonda slr frame since its more narrow. GRX helps me, I dont have to use spacer.

I have a 2018 Diverge Carbon.. it's a 48/32 with an 11/34.. seems to be perfection 👌 plus the bike is pretty snappy at 20 lbs for a gravel bike. Vroom 🚴‍♂️ vroom

What is the biggest cass I can put with force 22 11 speed, I have been told I can only go up to a 11/32 cass. with wifi sram rear mech, I am running 50/34 up front, I have used ab black 30/46 with shimano cranks and force sti but find the 30 ring a bit small, prefer 34. Any suggestions

O.k.. You were right Man.. I just entered my first 100 mile gravel race Almanzo 100 ..112.7 miles 6722 ft of elevation gain.. and yes I was walking my bike up hills.. granted they were serious inclines and i was most definitely not the only one pushing the bike.. but credit to you.. you definitely know what you're talking about and I needed extra gears no doubt.. ✌💜😎 kudos

Not another group set that doesn't even offer a down tube shifter option with a switchable friction mode

40/27 Q rings, 11/36, road link 105 short cage n v brakes, it works for me👍

Yep, Shimano got it wrong the those chainrings being way too big. A 46/11 combo at 90 rpm with 40c tires gives you 50 kph. Who needs that on a gravel road?

now shimano has a stock gruppo for gravel, bike shops will be able to sell the gearing straight out of the box on new bikes. If it does not sell well, it will just discreetly disappear.

Yeah, I saw GCN's video on this and immediately thought "3 years too late".

Can't agree more. Shimano is really falling behind on getting gear ratios right!

Agreed, it's all low gears for me. I'm an old guy who commutes on cheap triple chainring using the granny gear

Looks like it could already have been done with other group sets great video tho
