Cold Start Misfire in Your Car or Truck? How to Decarbonize Your Engine

preview_player
Показать описание

Does the engine in your car or truck sputter, misfire, or run rough when starting it up cold? Your vehicle's engine may have excessive carbon buildup in the head, especially around the intake valves, which is affecting the air coming into the engine, and can throw off the air/fuel ratio, especially in newer cars and trucks with direct fuel injection. Watch this video to learn how you can decarbonize the top end of your car or truck engine yourself!

Folks, I have done this and it does work. Use CRC and it will not smoke. What the manufacturer of the cleaner does not tell you is that huge amounts of carbon will be dumped into you oil. Not all of it gets burned up or sent out the exhaust. How do I know, I did oil analysis before and after. Hard particle counts was 100 times higher. Glad to see that you recommended the oil change to get rid of the small amount of cleaner. Due to residual oil which can vary from 10-20%, a second oil change is needed. You dont want that abrasive carbon floating around your engine for the next 5-7K miles. Most if is smaller than the rating on your filter but also large enough to cause wear..

Like a 50/50 seafoam mix, can I put Fuel injector cleaner in my tank when it's on empty to get a more concentrated cleaning or would it damage something

Can running the car low on petrol and being stood for a while cause one to misfire from cold? I've seen several cars do it and seem to run better when warmed up.

I have three old carburetor trucks that run like crap when they're cold. When I saw the title of this video, I was hoping it was for carburetors, since my trucks have the same symptoms.
Do you think this could this be the problem with them? They're 79 2.3L Ford, 82 1.9L Mazda & 83 2.4L Nissan engines.
Thanks!

Great video! Quick question, on my 2013 nissan rogue I've been having high rpm on cold starts, about 2k. I've cleaned the maf and throttle body also checked for vacuum leaks. I'm stumped. Any advice helps. Thanks

After all that carbon was sent through the exhaust, you might want to change your cats after the oil change.

When you see whitish smoke coming out of the Exhaust; it is mostly Water vapour that you see!

Can a missfire cause white smoke or blownheadgaskt but my oil is not milkey

Seafoam does not work. It is literally smoke and mirrors. The large amounts of oil in some of these products is what is causing the smoke, not the supposed cleaning. Use an OEM provided induction cleaner and service. GM Top End Cleaner has no oil, just too of the line detergents and solvents. Oil and soot is causing the problem, using an oil based additive is going to make it worse.

I heard SeaFoam was not a good product!
Also how bad is this going to clog up the catalytic converter🤔???
Early days carb - we used water to remove Carbon build up ....

First, you add the cleaner before you do anything so that any carbon displaced gets an extra bit of chance to burn up before it burns holes in your catalytic converter; cat cleaners clean fuel systems too only gets those instead of fuel system cleaners. Then, don’t ever touch the accelerator unless necessary for at least 30 seconds before setting off, I don’t care if it’s already warm; really you should wait more than a minute. Your car, even modern, runs best when closer to normal operating temperature and more than half the wear on an engine comes from the start ups. Mostly it has to do with oil conditions than anything, but cold makes metal contract and as it heats up it functions better typically, regardless of what kind of combustion engine you’re talking about. Some aspects can be better, but overall efficacy is engineered for NOT. You don’t ever really want to rush them until you’re trying to open them up

Everything else seemed fine though

Is it normal for my truck not to have a Cold Start ? It starts like I’ve been driving it in my sleep. My 2010 had cold start but my 2018 truck has almost no cold start why ?

I might try this if there was a way to disconnect the exhaust after the manifold and not completely gunk up the exhaust system as a result.
