A large number of these creatures were 'saved' by the United States, and were whisked away, across the Atlantic. It didn't matter where they came from, either. Not all Germans were Nazis, and not all Nazis were German. Tons of Nazis came from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, as well as Hungary and Romania, both which were Axis Powers during WW2.
