“Ridiculous”: China dismisses Canada's allegations of election interference

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday that allegations of China’s interference in Canada’s elections are “ridiculous.” During a regular media briefing in Beijing, she said that “We have no interest in and will not interfere in Canada's internal affairs.”

Canadian media have recently published detailed reports, citing anonymous intelligence sources, alleging schemes run by China to interfere in Canada's elections in 2021 and 2019.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday that he will appoint an independent special investigator to probe alleged election interference by China and also announced separate new probes into the suspected foreign meddling.

Amid reports that Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen will meet U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in the U.S., Ning also said China was "seriously concerned" and had asked Washington for clarification.

Ahhh. That's why we have 4 times the amount of chinese diplomats in Canada compared to the US but we have 100 times less people than the us. Makes sense. My 2 cents is China wants Canada's land since its mostly untouched and a lot of it is fertile.

Hate to say this, but stop voting for Chinese Canadians who aren't originally from Hongkong or Taiwan. Majority of Chinese Canadians from the mainland are loyal Canadians too, but the PRC is an existential threat and we need to play it very safe. No sane person thinks this is the high water mark; the PRC will not stop until we are a tributary.
