The ‘90s Korean-made Danos are pretty dang tidy instruments and capture a lot of the vibe of the originals with the mild upgrades of radiused fretboards and truss rods that are adjustable.

The pickups have a little more clarity than the old guys but thanks to the fact that these older reissues kept the same “two pickups on = wired in series” wiring, you still get THAT sound — that perfect Dano U2 mid-position crunchy jangle that is my definition of “Dano tone.”

When I played a green ‘56 original Dano, I would hang on the neck and then flip to the mid position for lead work. The bridge setting was reserved for strummed cowboy-style chords. I want to play this one the same way. That’s a good thing!

Anyhow, this one’s in via trade/consignment and I’ve given it a fret level/dress, minor fretboard reglue near the nut, cleaning, compensation at the saddle, a new Switchcraft jack, and setup. It plays bang-on and, despite missing its pickguard, is ready to go.
