after ten years, still one of the best video on explaining the mark recapture method.

thank you. How can i calculate the 95% confidence interval in the repeated mark-recapture case?

Any chance you could point me in the direction of a paper that uses the repeated mark-recapture formula given here? Or the name of the formula? Trying to use this formula for a class paper. Thanks!

The only thing that I do not understand here is how do you find Cn and Rn. Are they just picked randomly or they are defined by something?

Thank you, sir! the repeat mark-recapture is also known as Schnabel estimate. Meanwhile, Chapman estimate is a modified version of the Lincoln-Petersen estimate that is widely used for capture-recapture. Pray for my bachelor fyp guys!!!

Does this account for the possibility that some birds might just be easier to capture than others, therefore the number that were missed in all counts would likely be higher than in a case where the birds were identical and behaved independently?

Can you please list out the indices of mark recapture model. I need a list like Lincoln Peterson estimate, Schnabel index like that.. so that it'll be very helpful for doing a dissertation on this topic for the completion of my masters degree

I would like to estimate population of giant land snails in a protected area, what is there any ways to mark snails that last for 1 year?

Hi, I have a question re: a repeat-mark-recapture method. I will be using a jolly-seber model for trapping palm civets. If I design the trapping for 3 sampling sessions (2 wks apart) and each session will be 2-days straight. If I caught a civet during the 1st day and released it the same day but then got caught (and released) again the 2nd day, how would I treat the animal as data for the jolly seber model? I am confused since the 2 days would be treated as one session in the jolly-seber method. Thanks. Hope my question is clear. ☺

great video! I have to look over it a couple more times, but the explanation is very clear. THANK YOU :)

I'm doing a research in which I got a trap happy mouse which got in my traps all 6 trapping nights. I'm wondering if there is a correction for that since my calculated population size now is lower than it probably is in reallity.

Hi! Thanks a lot for yout video its very clear, i have one question, if in a repeat mark-recapture model you register an individual on day 3 that was marked on day one, you count it normally as a recapture or this need an special treatment? Thanks a lot again

What is the difference between the C & R variables in the equation? I found the slides defining them to be confusing.

Hello, I was working with dogs, to try to stimate the quantity of dogs free on the street and see their movement dinamyc, we worked 2 day, doing 2 observantions each day. How can I apply your formula? Can I add M4 and C4 to formula? and Which is your bibliographic source?. Thanks.
