OMC had/has a factory in Belgium and made outboards there for the European marked from the mid seventies.

@skatabeast13 Excellent motors! I have a 2000 mod. You can get cheap parts from Sierra (which has good quality!). A bit thirsty engine maybe.

Usually when you learn to become a boat mechanic you start to learn how to fix these kind of engines.

there good motors these johnnos as they are really strong motors in case they are well looked after they will live a long life these Johnsons they are good motors if you look after them well as I say as a ex outboard mechanic I learnt to work on the motors this was the last of the good Johnsons as OMC went broke in the yr2000 this was when OMC went broke as they lost a lot of money at the time this happened after the chap that ran OMC was by the name of Charlie Straing he was the chairman of OMC before he was chased out by successive chairman's this was x4 of them stuffed the company by bringing in loss making outboards as I knew this was the bad Ficht outboards and the company was in the read a lot after Charlie Straing got chased out  and this why the legendary OMC was going broke when this outboard was made this was all the info I knew of as I read up on OMCs collapse in the December  of the year 2000 as I knew evinrude still Exists but under the BRP name this what I knew a lot on this stuff on the outboard motor industry as I knew I read up on this stuff a lot in those years as these outboards was the last made by OMC this was the info I knew via my memory on this subject as all I knew on the good OMC outboards this was all I knew on them thiswas on 20 years ago now

Reving the engine on muffs is not good, nor is running it for more than about 5 mins on muffs
