The problem is, the people choose the P.M. and have no idea about recruiting someone suitable. The rest of us need qualifications, screening and experience to land a job.

Why do I have more confidence in Kirsty Wark as this country's leader than any leading politician you can name. What is wrong with me?

So Sunak likes a Twix. Well, although he’s a flake, that should give him a boost and send two fingers to Truss, although neither of them are real smarties. *Snickers*

We'd probably have better luck with finding a very real leader
with statesmanship and leadership skills for PM
if there were a nationwide lotto.

If the polls are to be trusted then we'll go from PM Johnson to PM Truss. How has it come to this? How far have we fallen as a country that this is now the calibre of person who leads us?

As a fellow headhunter I would have an initial 2-3 hour conversation before ever moving forward. Psychometrics are hardly up to date!

What "leadership"?. Parliament is More like a Mad Hatter's Party. Talking about UK leadership is a waste of time.

The only job in the UK where 2 unsuitable candidates can go for it This is why our country is in its arse.
Same old people . Same old policy's . Can we not see the problem .

Has to be one of the dumbest segments I've ever seen on newsnight. Trying to compare a CEO to a prime minister is ridiculous. a prime minister has a restricted pool of talent to appoint to ministerial positions whereas a CEO can headhunt from multiple sources. A prime minister has to balance his appointments to represent the differences in their party.

I would be interested to know the opinion of Steve Richards who is an expert on politics and has written two books about UK Prime Ministers. Truss does not have the temperament to be PM which will be very clear in short order. Mathew Paris has written an article which refers to her leadership credentials.

Yea, cos I want to watch two narcissists fight for control, while they will only help their own self interests, rather than the national interests. And with no psychological assessments, will then be able to have control of nuclear weapons. And yet you have more checks to just work as a bouncer. FFS.

Unique Perspective! If voters thought like that, many of the current crop of leaders wouldn't have been leaders in the first place! For example, let me put this out- what leadership qualities do you see in Rishi that you do not see in Liz and vice-versa?
Also(might anger some), what leadership qualities are there, if any, in Boris Johnson, Narendra Modi, Joe Biden, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz, Jair Bolsonaro, Donald Trump, Viktor Orban, Lukashenko, Recep T. Erdogan or many other such leaders of contemporary times who have been elected/selected?

They didn't cover the most important criteria for a prospective CEO: Connections.
It's about who you know, and whether or not they like you, after all.

If that’s what you call “working their hardest”, then the country is fucked.
