I once fell in love at first picture/message with that aspect. Things were good at first but ended badly. I was literally CRAZY in love.

I have Venus/Neptune quintile in my natal chart and there is this aspect in synastry. There are certainly other ‘grounding’ aspects but I can see how that plays out.

Yep, makes you super delusional in love, you cannot really see who the other person truly is. Also applies to the transit btw. I remember when I had Neptune squaring my venus I met a guy and was soooo "in love" like from the first date (we also met during the day venus was transiting my uranus but that's another story). Felt like I just found "The One". Talk about rose colored glasses. It really is strong when Neptune clouds your judgment. The guy did not tick any of my typical boxes but I did not care, I was "in love" 🥰. Thanks God I knew about astrology so I told myself to wait and see what happens when Neptune moves out of the square. Took about 2 1/2 year and as soon as Neptune was 3 degrees away in orb I suddenly woke up from my delusion. It happened pretty instantaneously. I could not even touch him anymore when before I was so in love with him for 2 and a half years, suddenly I was almost repulsed. As bad as that sounds but that's what happened. So clearly it was just the Neptune aspect nothing more 😇 In his defense he was a good guy, and I think my sudden change must have confused him quite a bit, as he did not have any Neptune going on, only I did have that transit. Felt somewhat guilty to be honest as he did nothing wrong and suddenly from my side all feelings had disappeared.

Edit: both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had transit Neptune square their Venus (they both have their venus in Taurus) when they met and "fell in love" 😂😇

Have this aspect in our synastry chart at orb 5. Being the Neptune person here, I would be horrified at the idea of taking advantage of him and def would be more in protective mode as you described especially as I know what it is like to be with a predatory partner as I was in my younger years (my Neptune was square exact with my exes Venus and he was the most violent, dishonest, thieving, cheating con man you could imagine). At the same time, I would be devastated if my Venus love woke up one day and decided he did not love me anymore as someone else stated in their comment. Along with our ascendants in opposition, we each have 7 of our 9 majors aspecting each others Pluto, mainly in Trines (including Moon Trine Pluto), my moon in his 4th close to his IC, his venus, mars and pluto in my 4th house and my venus, mars and chiron in his 5th as well as both having each others Jupiter in the 8th house and his north node in my 8th house (mine in his 9th). We also have nice moon aspects, very strong mercury aspects, many jupiter aspects all in trine and sextile and beautiful synastry between our north nodes. In our composite chart we have Venus in our 4th, and heavy 5th and 8th house stelliums so a lot of different shades. I think if we met in our youth with high emotions and hormones the relationship would have been too much to navigate but as an older, more mature individuals we understand self-will and that love is not just feelings and hormones but making the daily choice to treat the other well, especially when we both know intimately what it is like to be treated horribly.

Could you do a composite Moon opposite Venus and a composite Moon opposite Mars when you get a chance, please?

We have mars conjunct pluto being our strongest aspect. Also saturn square venus and Venus square neptune. Venus trine pluto. Sun and moon sextile venus. Idk what to make of this

I'm wondering to what degree you feel it in orb.
I have this in synastry with my man he is Venus i am Neptune,
wide orb 5, 18°.
But its the other way around of what you described, him acting like Neptune.

I have this with my husband at 0 rb he’s the Venus I’m Neptune, we met and everything was perfect we married 7 month into the relationship then he totally change on me, he started acting distant and started cheating, very karmic i have my Venus and my Jupiter conjunct his southnode and my Venus conjunct his Juno also Venus sextle Saturn
I forgave him we have 2 kids together still married after 12 yrs but I think is just time to go separate ways because we are not in the same page, we also have Pluto square Mercury, Pluto apposite moon

I have this double whammy with someone and his neptune conjunct my jupiter and asc. We have a lot of other compatible aspects as well with some hard aspects.. hoping this placement just makes us more into each other and isn’t malefic 🥹
