Just wanted to stop by and thank you Mr Hughes. I'm a 33 year-old taking generals at community college and I'm taking a history class that focuses on the History of the POTUS. Your videos on the presidents and the elections are extremely helpful when it comes time to cram for essay tests.

Just wanted to say I love your videos, I've seen like 100 of them. Thank you so much for the hard work and effort you put into these lessons.

Wow, Hoover dropped from 58 percent popular support in 1928, to under 40 percent in 1932. FDR sweeps 42 out of 48 states and wins the Electoral College 472 to 59.

Hard to vote for someone when you have no job, have no home, have no money, & you're hungry.

1933 FDR: Let's do this!
1937 FDR: Yay, again!
1941 FDR: I'm really bored!
1945 FDR: I'm ready to die!

My home state of Pennsylvania gave Hoover 36 of the 59 electoral votes, but there were two million more Republicans in Pennsylvania at that time. It even went for Dewey in 1948.

Actually FDR voted for Woodrow Wilson, not Teddy Roosevelt.

"You have to go to 1852 for when a Democrat won the popular vote and electoral vote." What about James Buchanan in 1856, Grover Cleveland in 1884 and 1892, and Woodrow Wilson in 1912 and 1916?

FDR was one of our greatest (if not the greatest) US President

I started watching these videos for school. When I can hear them, I like them. Not all of your videos, like this one offer closed captioning

I don't understand your comment about Al Smith. You said Smith was unable to get the white Southern vote (referring to 1932) - but the only states he won against Hoover in 1928 were some Southern states!

Its Hawley not Hartley. Hip Hughes is thinking of the Taft-Hartley Act

Good video, but that screech between cuts is annoying and really doesn’t add any value. But I did learn things, regardless, and that’s why I watched in the first place. Thanks.

6:24 Halloween has come early. I'm not one to have a high opinion of teachers but I like Hiphughes' videos.

Al Smith lost because of anti-Catholic bigotry.

Hoover didn't have anything positive to run on to say the least and anyone could have beaten him. Kind of interesting that they actually ran against Hoover's high spending and socialism even though FDR took that so much further when he actually got in there.

The Fins even made a word after Hoover.
