This scene made me cry just as hard as Ace's death. The emotional pain you'll hear in the voice of someone that's lost a child is something you never forget. She loved every one of those kids and they weren't even hers.

One of the things I love about this scene is how Dadan was always terrified of Garp. He strong armed her into taking care of Ace and Luffy and threatened to lock them up if they didn't. But here she truly absolutely does not give an Eff in her rage and grief as she physically and verbally lets him have it.

Dadan thinking of Luffy first while she herself is grieving is a testament to how kind she is.

Saddest reaction to a death in Anime. Its just too real and of course she thinks of Luffys pain because she IS their mother and loves those boys.

Dadan may have not been their actual birth mother, but she still raised and cared for those boys like they were her own! She gave them shelter, looked after them and everything a caring mother would! So her reacting like this after finding out the news is valid, it was hard enough when they thought they lost sabo but finding out that Ace is gone for real, that broke her heart and Luffy was there, suffering the most! He watched his own brother die right in his arms dammit! He was traumatized by that event! Dadan is honestly right, Garp cared more about his job than his own family, Luffy was Suffering the most, at that time ace was pretty much his last brother and now he's gone... everytime I saw that scene it broke my heart
