This is a great job opportunity. Canada doesn't allow wells to be abandoned. They have to put the wellsite back to bed properly, and is highly inspected. This is just good sense and creates many jobs.

The stock owners the last x years should be hold accountable for environmental hazards that the company was not able to cover it self. Spread the fine out on ownership percentage.

If that's impossible then a huge deposit and insurance should be required before environmental impactful work can start.

This is why you need deposits & resource taxes to set aside some of the profits of wells, mines etcetera to cover the cleanup costs because this happens everywhere.
